María Belén Espiñeira

Biography
María Belén Espiñeira is a lawyer, graduated from the Universidad Católica Argentina, and holds a Master’s degree in International Maritime Law from Swansea University of Wales (United Kingdom), with distinction. She completed postgraduate studies in Maritime and Aeronautical Law at the Universidad de Buenos Aires and in Argentine Maritime Interests at the Mechanical School of the Argentine Navy, and was awarded a scholarship by Ince & Co. to pursue postgraduate studies in Public and Private Maritime Law at the International Foundation of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea, in Hamburg, Germany.
She is a national and international lecturer, with notable participation in events organized by the International Maritime Organization, the World Maritime University, the International Bar Association, the Ibero-American Institute of Maritime Law and WISTA International, among others. She is the author of specialized publications and carries out extensive academic activity as a Professor of Maritime Law at the Manuel Belgrano National Nautical School, as well as in programs organized by ECLAC and the Argentine Coast Guard, where she also served as Director of the Specialization in Management of the Protection of the Aquatic Environment.
She has more than twenty years of experience in the maritime sector. Before founding Espiñeira Maritime Lawyers, she worked as an in-house lawyer for a major shipping company in Argentina and at a recognized maritime law firm. She advises and represents domestic and international companies in maritime transport, navigation and maritime insurance, with practice in contractual disputes, cargo claims, major maritime incidents, regulatory and environmental matters, customs, insurance and international trade.
She was Founding President of WISTA Argentina in 2012 and currently serves as Vice President. In 2019, she was appointed Diversity & Inclusion Officer of the Maritime and Transport Law Committee of the International Bar Association. She is a member of the Ibero-American Institute of Maritime Law and the Argentine Maritime Law Association, and in 2014 she was recognized by the International Bar Association as Outstanding Young Lawyer, in Tokyo, Japan.
María Soledad Radicchi

Biography
María Soledad Radicchi is a lawyer, graduated from the Universidad de Buenos Aires, and specialized in the corporate area. She also obtained the title of Mediator granted by the Ministry of Justice and Security of the Province of Buenos Aires and has completed various training and professional development courses in Customs Law.
For more than twenty years, she has provided comprehensive legal advice to domestic and foreign companies. She has extensive experience in legal matters related to corporate, commercial, tax, labor and social security law, international trade, and national and international contractual matters. She has further developed her knowledge and experience in Alternative Dispute Resolution through mediation, conciliation and arbitration proceedings.
Javier Ocampo

Biography
Dr. Capt. Javier Ocampo is a lawyer, graduated from the Universidad Nacional de Lomas de Zamora (2002), and holds a Postgraduate Update Degree in Maritime and Aeronautical Law from the Universidad de Buenos Aires (2008).
He is also a Merchant Marine Officer, graduated from the Manuel Belgrano National Nautical School (1988), and has held the rank of Ocean-Going Master since 1995, with more than ten years of seagoing experience aboard domestic and foreign vessels.
Since 2000, he has served as nautical and legal advisor at the Río de la Plata Traffic Control Center of the Argentine Coast Guard. He is a Professor of Maritime and Aeronautical Law at the Faculty of Law of the Universidad de Buenos Aires, at the Universidad Nacional de Lomas de Zamora and at officer training institutes of the Argentine Coast Guard, and also teaches at the National Nautical School and in the postgraduate program on Maritime Interests of the Argentine Navy.
He has been a member of the Argentine Maritime Law Association since 2005 and is President of the Maritime Law Studies Committee of the Transport Law Institute of the Lomas de Zamora Bar Association. He is recognized as a lecturer and coordinator of academic, legal and operational events related to maritime and fluvial transport, and as a leading consultant in Maritime and Transport Law.
Alejandro Schmilinsky

Biography
Alejandro D. Schmilinsky E. is a Venezuelan lawyer, graduated from the Universidad Rafael Belloso Chacín (URBE), and qualified as a lawyer in Argentina after completing the equivalency program at Universidad John F. Kennedy. He holds a Master’s degree in Labour Law from the Universidad de Santa María (Caracas), postgraduate studies in Civil Procedural Law at the Universidad Experimental de los Llanos “Rómulo Gallegos”, and a Diploma in Hydrocarbons Law from the Universidad Nacional de Hidrocarburos. He was also a Professor of Procedural Law at the Universidad Experimental de los Llanos.
He has fluent command of English, both oral and written, including technical legal language, and more than fifteen years of professional experience, standing out in the administration of justice, where he served as Judge of First Instance and Judge of the Court of Appeals. He also practiced as a litigator in various areas, particularly Oil and Gas and Maritime Law.
He served as Corporate Head of Litigation for a major international hydrocarbons group with more than one hundred subsidiaries, in charge of international litigation and commercial, maritime and investment arbitrations (ICC, LMAA, LCIA, CABC, UNCITRAL and ICSID). He participated in litigation in the United States, England, the Netherlands, the Netherlands Antilles, Portugal and Ecuador, and has extensive experience in international contracts (MOUs, Charterparties and EPC contracts). He joined Espiñeira Maritime Lawyers in 2019.
María Ana Milano

María Ana Milano is a lawyer at the firm, with more than fifteen years of experience in personal data protection, compliance and contract management, providing comprehensive legal advice within a full-service, practical and business-oriented approach.
She holds a Law degree from the Pontificia Universidad Católica Argentina (UCA) and a Master’s degree in International Relations from the University of Bologna (Italy). She has developed her professional career in Argentina, Ireland, Italy and Spain, advising clients in international environments and working fluently in Spanish, English and Italian.
Within the firm, her practice focuses on contract negotiation and management, regulatory compliance and personal data protection, working in an integrated manner with clients’ legal, compliance, finance and operations teams, particularly in Europe and Latin America. She also has specialized training in contract management, dispute resolution and mediation, bringing a strategic and cross-disciplinary perspective that strengthens the firm’s comprehensive legal approach.
Magdalena Conti

Magdalena Conti is a sworn and literary translator in English, with more than twenty years of experience providing translation, editing and proofreading services in English and Spanish. She specializes in legal and technical texts related to the maritime and port industry, as well as international trade and insurance.
Within the firm, her practice focuses on specialized legal translation, terminological review, legal and contractual document editing and proofreading, ensuring conceptual accuracy, linguistic consistency and regulatory adequacy for documents intended for national and international contexts.

Espiñeira Maritime Lawyers advises and represents shipowners, ship operators, charterers, salvors, carriers, shipping agents, freight forwarders, logistics operators, port terminals, shippers, consignees and offshore service providers, both domestic and foreign.
The firm is also a listed correspondent for Protection and Indemnity (P&I) Clubs and represents domestic and foreign insurance companies and their recovery agents.
The firm was involved in one of the major incidents that occurred in the Paraná River in 2012, protecting the interests of a collided and sunken vessel, resulting in seven crew members deceased and an oil spill. It also advised on significant groundings, special operations in Antarctica, submarine cable laying operations and offshore services in Ushuaia, as well as service providers of the Oil & Gas industry in the Falkland Islands.
Likewise, the firm has obtained excellent results for its clients in a large number of cargo claims and contractual disputes related to fluvial transport along the Paraná-Paraguay Waterway and ocean-going transport at the ports of Buenos Aires and southern Argentina.
