The Argentine Government has introduced a significant customs regulatory change by removing the restrictions that previously limited the amount of fuel (i.e. the quantity strictly necessary to reach the next international destination) that both national and foreign-flag vessels could bunker during their outbound voyage from Argentine customs territory.
Through ARCA Resolution No. 5797/25, published in the Official Gazette on 16 December 2025, it has been established that vessels on outbound voyages may bunker, under the special “ship store regime”, the quantities of fuel required to fully supply their tanks for own consumption, irrespective of their next destination.
This measure represents a significant step forward in the flexibilization of port operations and in strengthening the competitiveness of Argentine ports within international maritime trade.
